The property market in general may be tough, but James Oatley, who works in the Ramsgate office of Ward & Partners - Kent’s leading independent estate agents – has certainly got something to celebrate after carrying off a top regional prize at a recent awards evening which rounded off a hugely successful first half of the year for the firm.
Beating off stiff competition from John Aguiar (Walderslade office) and Shane Pevy (Dover), James was named Top Lister in recognition of his achievement in securing the greatest number of new instructions in the 6 months to June. The award was presented by Regional Managing Director Aldo Sotgiu, amid enthusiastic applause from Wards staff attending the event, held atChatham’s Historic Dockyard recently.
Commenting later on the award, Aldo said: “James’s achievement in winning the Top Lister title - against some of the stiffest competition in the business - is a real tribute to all his hard work and professionalism. Ward & Partners pride themselves on employing the best people in the business - and this award proves that James is one of the very best of the best!”
James’s achievement also reflects the fact that, despite the tough market conditions, Ward & Partners nevertheless enjoyed a great first half, Aldo added. “We were more than 20% up on exchange business for the first 6 months of 2012. Not only that, but the average price we succeeded in achieving on exchange was up by 3%, year on year. Whichever way you look at it, these are fantastic results in a challenging market!”
Aldo attributed this remarkable success to the investment Ward & Partners continually makes in quality staff, first-class training, and innovative, high-profile marketing, which consistently attracts an exceptionally high number of buyers.
Meanwhile, looking forward to the second half of 2012, Aldo emphasised the importance of sensible pricing in achieving a successful sale. “Even though there is healthy demand for properties, buyers are clearly discerning. And while overall mortgage availability is improving, higher loan-to-value deals are still restricted. In other words, it’s becoming considerably easier to get a mortgage, as long as you have a substantial deposit.”
Nevertheless, he confidently predicted that Ward & Partners would continue building on the success already achieved.
