Canterbury

Despite its landmarks attracting people from all across the world, Canterbury is described by the locals as a market town as it offers a much slower pace of life than would be assumed from a large city.

With its famous cathedral, excellent Ofsted-rated schools, a fantastic university and hugely varied nightlife, it’s no wonder Canterbury is our Best Place to Live in Kent winner.

Royal Tunbridge Wells

From a truly historic city to a royal one! Being only 45 minutes from the hustle and bustle of London, Royal Tunbridge Wells is a fantastic location for commuters, looking to escape to the quiet after a long day at the office. Its combination of beautiful surroundings and desirable location, perfectly balances city life with countryside escapism.

There are many green spaces, outdoor activities and an award-winning shopping centre! For these and countless other reasons, Royal Tunbridge Wells is a fantastic place to call home.

Belvedere

Is Belvedere in London or Kent? Many people believe that this little town is simply a hidden London gem. However, with a Kent postcode, this one will forever dictate pub debates!

Despite its size, this town has a fantastic variety of pubs, bars, restaurants and schools. So, if you want the best of both worlds, Belvedere gives you the benefits of the big city whilst maintaining the charm of a small-town community.

Ashford

Despite being geographically further away from London compared to other towns, the high-speed train service means you can actually get to London St. Pancras in less than 40 minutes! This makes Ashford perfect for young professionals, but it’s also fantastic for families.

With the beautiful Kent Downs on your doorstep, you’ll enjoy countless countryside walks and, after all that walking, you can head to one of many, local family-friendly pubs – the best of both worlds!

Sandwich

Rich in medieval history, Sandwich is small enough to explore on foot, whilst offering you a huge variety of cafés, bars, restaurants and shopping locations.

With the sea and the town’s famous golf courses just a short distance away, there is plenty of outdoor entertainment. With so much character, it’s easy to see why Sandwich is considered one of the best towns to live in the UK, not just Kent!

Sevenoaks

Sevenoaks has long been a firm favourite of Londoners looking to side-step out from the capital. Trains are just a snappy 25 minutes’ ride from London, so you can just pop on the train to your local London shops!

Despite its reasonably small population, Sevenoaks is the ideal location for families and young professionals.

Folkestone

The UK’s access point to the Channel Tunnel, Folkestone is a great location if you want to visit France. If you want a quick escape to the city of love and fresh croissants – you can be right there in just an hour.

Folkestone also offers its residents a blissfully, slower pace of life, with easy access to countless other beautiful seaside towns along the south coast, each steeped in its own history.

Folkestone is certainly the town for you, if you have the explorer bug.

Eynsford

For the real countryside experience, Eynsford is the place for you. Surrounded by lots of woodland and the eye-catching medieval castle ruins, this village couldn’t be more picturesque!

Eynsford doesn’t have the fastest links into London but it more than makes up for it with its vast countryside, perfect for the family to play and explore.

Dover

The small coastal town of Dover is a great location for family life, as well as easy access to Europe. It has an amazing school district and lots of great amenities. It’s a bit further to travel to London but how can you not love the striking white cliffs, as sung about famously by the late Vera Lynn.
